State Proposition 6: Voter Approval for Future Gas and Vehicle Taxes and 2017 Tax Repeal Initiative

Proposition 6 repeals the fuel tax increases and vehicle fees enacted in 2017, and requires voter approval for future tax increases. The current taxes on fuel apply to gas and diesel while the vehicle fees are charged to zero emission vehicles that do not use gas or diesel. The money collected from those taxes and charges are used to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure, road safety and maintenance. Funds also provide resources for improving mass transit. Proposition 6 is trying to put an end to these taxes which can jeopardize not only our transportation infrastructure but also harm the amount of job opportunities that are offered.

Proposition 6 will be on the Ballot in California on November 6, 2018.
