Transit for Youth
We believe transit for youth should be free, universal, and accessible. In California, this vision is compromised by the lack of state-funded home-to-school transportation for public education students. Genesis is working to change that by uplifting community voices, especially youth, to ensure decision makers hear their call for reliable, equitable transit.
Key Issues We're Addressing
-
Equity in Access Many low-income students lack reliable transportation to school, creating barriers to education and opportunity.
-
Affordability Transit costs add up for families; free youth passes reduce financial strain and increase ridership.
-
Safety & Reliability Youth need safe, consistent, and dependable transportation to ensure they arrive at school and after-school activities on time.
-
Environmental Impact Expanding public transit use reduces traffic congestion and lowers greenhouse gas emissions, building a more sustainable future.
-
Community Voice Youth deserve a seat at the table in shaping transportation policy and ensuring their needs are prioritized.
